Hailing from Springfield, Ohio, John grew up paying close attention to the songs that his grandmother used to sing. When he was 15, he purchased an electric guitar and an amplifier, and after suffering from a two-year all-encompassing distortion headache, he bought an acoustic guitar. Soon afterward, he was introduced to the world of bluegrass through the music of David Grisman and Jerry Garcia, but it was watching a live telecast of The Del McCoury Band that truly did him in.
Most recently, John played with The Down Home Band out of Springfield, Ohio. He’s appeared several times on the television show "It’s Time for Bluegrass", which is broadcast out of Dayton, OH. Earl Scruggs, Bill Monroe and J.D. Crowe remain his most prevalent musical influences.
